Marco Cagnazzo (SM’11) obtained the Ph.D. degree in Information and Communication Technology jointly from the "Federico II" University (Naples, Italy) and the University of Nice-Sophia Antipolis (France) in 2005. Then, he has been a post-doc fellow with the CNIT National Laboratory of Multimedia Communication (Naples, Italy) and with the I3S laboratory in Sophia Antipolis (France). Marco Cagnazzo has been a Full Professor at Telecom Paris/Institut Polytechnique de Paris (2018-2021) within the Multimedia team, where he arrived as an associate professor in 2008. Moreover, he has been responsible for the Multimedia team between 2015 and 2021. Since December 2021, he has been with the Department of Information Engineering at the University of Padua (Italy).
His research mainly focuses on visual data communication, including immersive video processing and coding, hologram compression and transmission, semantic video compression, and compression helped by learning-based methods. He is the author or the co-author of more than 160 research articles, conference papers, standardization contributions, patents, books, and book chapters in these fields.
Marco Cagnazzo is an Associate Editor for IEEE Open Journal on Circuits and Systems and an Area Editor for Elsevier Signal Processing: Image Communication (SPIC). He has been an Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems for Video Technology, IEEE Signal Processing Letters, and Elsevier Signal Processing (SIGPRO). Since 2017, he has been a member of the IEEE SPS Technical Committee on Image, Video, and Multidimensional Signal Processing (IVMSP) and a board member of the French Society on Signal Processing. Moreover, he regularly serves as a reviewer for several journals (IEEE Transactions on Image Processing, on Signal Processing, on Circuits and Systems for Video Technology) and as a reviewer and area chair for such conferences as IEEE ICIP, IEEE ICASSP, Eurasip EUSIPCO, IEEE MMSP, IEEE ICME.
